Kenneth E. Degen, 76, of Telford, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Cape May, NJ. He and his beloved wife Meredith “Murphy” (Ellis) Hunsberger Degen celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary in March, 2018. He was a highly respected and admired employee for the New York State Department of Transportation where he worked as a civil engineer for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 2003. Ken made many lasting friendships during his tenure. Ken was outgoing, with a larger-thanlife personality. He enjoyed being surrounded by family, friends, and especially his grandkids. You could always find him at their sports and school activities, making friends wherever he went. His love for adventure would often include trains, boats, and planes; but locally you could find him out for breakfast at the Energy Station. He enjoyed square dancing with Murphy, and he had a love for Dunkin Donuts coffee that knew no bounds. Ken was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Karen (Meyer) Degen, who died in 2005. He is survived by their three daughters: Kirsten Degen of Long Island, Kimberly Malmquist and her husband Paul of Souderton, and Katherine Degen of Long Island. Ken is survived by his wife Murphy and her sons: Jamie Hunsberger and his wife Aimee of California, Chris Hunsberger and his wife Stefanie of Telford. He has eight beloved grandchildren: Megan, Allison, Noah, Caroline, Nathan, Matthew, Braden, and Brynn.
