Stevens/Heebner win Montco Better Ball Handicap Division

A rain-softened course made for a lot of low scoring in the Better Ball of Part- ners Handicap Division of the Montgomery County Amateur Championship at Raven’s Claw GC

The team of Westover Golf Club’s George Stevens and Skippack Golf Club’s Dave Heebner combined for a 15-under-par net 56 to win by two shots. The brother team of Doug Szwak and Greg Szwak finished second at net 58.

The winning team will now compete in the 2019 World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach.

The week of competition in the Montgomery County Amateur Handicap Championship got under way with play in three divisions at Westover Golf Club on Saturday, July 28.

The winners in each of three divisions — Men 49 and Under, Senior Men and Women — competed in a putt-off to win a spot in the 2019 World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach. After a backand-forth process of elimination, Kate Sydnes won the putt-off —and the Overall Championship.

Sydnes is a former competitor in the Girls’ Junior Championship and a twotime Harry Mirabile Memorial Scholarship winner.
