A judge wants a North Wales man to undergo a psychosexual evaluation before she decides his fate on charges he assaulted a woman and locked her in a room of the house they once shared.

David Shannon Haddaway, 37, who at the time of the May 2017 incident was living in the 200 block of Elm Court, was ordered Tuesday by Montgomery County Judge Risa Vetri Ferman to report for the evaluation at a Bridgeport counseling facility on Aug. 6.

“I’ll be there, your honor,” Haddaway assured the judge.

Haddaway was supposed to be sentenced by Ferman on Tuesday on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and false imprisonment, to which he pleaded guilty earlier this year. During the guilty plea hearing in April, the judge ordered the psychosexual evaluation in preparation for sentencing

However, the judge learned on Tuesday that the evaluation was never arranged by the probation department.

“There’s really no excuse for the probation department canceling this on their own,” Ferman said, adding she believes the evaluation report is important to assist her in fashioning Haddaway’s punishment.

Haddaway, who is represented by defense lawyer Timothy Woodward, remains free on bail pending sentencing.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Nicholas Beeson.

The investigation began about 12:08 a.m. May 21, 2017, when the victim, “who was crying hysterically and was visibly shaken and scared,” reported to North Wales police that she was assaulted by Haddaway during an argument.

The woman reported that earlier in the night she had been arguing with Haddaway, who had been drinking, and that he came

downstairs naked, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her off a couch and onto the floor, held her down and attempted to get her to perform a sex act, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by North Wales

Police Officer Matthew Pokorny.

The woman screamed at Haddaway to get off of her, which he eventually did, and she retreated to a bedroom and texted a female friend to tell what had just happened. A short time later, Haddaway burst into the room, snatched the woman’s phone away and locked her in the bedroom,

preventing her from calling for help, police alleged.

After about five minutes, Haddaway unlocked the door and the woman fled from the residence, according to court documents.

Police said they observed an abrasion on the woman’s cheek.

The judge previously ordered Haddaway to have no contact with the woman

while he awaits sentencing.

Other charges of attempted indecent assault, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and harassment will be dismissed against Haddaway at time of sentencing in exchange for his guilty plea to the charges of simple assault and false imprisonment, according to court documents.
