It started like any other day for Morgan Scott.

“I rolled outta bed, was like ‘eh, another meet, here we go,’” she said, “and when I got here, I was like ‘wow, this is my last meet until I go to Indy.’ It was bittersweet. I’ll definitely miss being a part of Pennridge and I’ll miss being a Gator.

“I’ll always be a Gator. But now I’m a Hoosier.”

The Indiana University-bound Scott made her final Bux-Mont A Swim Championships appearance a record-breaking one, as the state-champion sprinter won the 50-yard butterfly, set a pool record in the 50 back (27.24) and also touched first in the 100 freestyle.

The Pennridge grad highlighted a day of fast swims as the Bux-Mont Swim League said goodbye to the 2018 season and saw one of its finest ever shine in her final A’s competition.

“Practices have been kind of like having fun, making the most of it, and it’s been a lot of fun,” said Scott. “Coming away with three wins was really good for me, and I’ll miss it a lot. I’ll miss my coaches, my friends, and just watching the little kids swim, with the smiles on their faces, it’s so sweet. It makes the most of the sport.”

Scott’s backstroke, additional pool records were set by Kelly Sommer of League Champion Towamencin in the boys 8-and-under 25 back (17.53) and by Jessica Burns of Souderton in the 11-12 50 breast (32.70).

Mason Potts of NorGwyn had himself a day, setting league and pool records in the 11-12 50 fly (25.95), the 50 back (27.98), and the 50 free (24.21).

Scott replaced the previ- ous senior back pool record of 27.76, set by former Fanny Chapman swimmer Allie Szekely (Stanford). Scott already owned the league re- cord (26.81, 2017).

“I wasn’t expecting that at all,” she said of notching the pool best Saturday. “I was just trying to swim fast and see how it goes. But that was pretty cool. It’ll be my last record here ever so that was nice finishing off.”

The former Ram leaves for Indiana in less than two weeks.

“I’m real excited,” she said. “It’s coming up really quick. I couldn’t be more excited. At Nationals, (Indiana) did really well and had some really great times. It’s really exciting to see how well they’re doing.

“And hopefully I’ll be in the same boat in the future.”
