Souderton pounds Spring City

In what served as a postseason three-match, Souderton Legion won its third meeting with rival Spring City Thursday, 13-1, to stay alive in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament.

It was a rubber match between Souderton and Spring City. Post 234 won the first meeting, 2-1, and Spring City won the second to claim the state title, 6-1.

This time around, it was no contest.

Kyle Lennon drew a walk and eventually scored on a ground ball to put Souderton in front 1-0 in the first. Post 234 doubled its lead to 2-0 in the third on an RBI single by Lennon.

From there, Souderton was in control.

With the victory, Post 234 advances to Friday, and will take on the loser of the Wilmington (Del.) and Severna Park (Md.) matchup at 3:30 p.m.
