GMA blanks the Mount Girls volleyball

Cailin Panacek scored two goals to lift Gwynedd Mercy Academy to a 2-0 Athletic Associatio­n of Catholic Academies win over Mount St. Joseph Academy Tuesday at Gwynedd Mercy Academy.

Panacek tallied a score in each half. Her first came on a free kick in the 39th minute. The second added insurance for the Monarchs on another free kick in the 52nd minute.

Mount goalkeeper Gina Sassane made 13 saves to keep the Magic within striking distance.

The Mount’s offense managed just four shots on goal.

METHACTON 7, NORRISTOWN

1» The Warriors scored five goals within the first nine minutes on the way to a win over the Eagles in PAC Liberty Division play.

Freshman Misa Kasparcova netted a hat trick and added an assist in the win while Addie Blane scored twice. Maggie Bordonaro and Kendall Ozorowski rounded out the scoring while Liz and Kate Greene combined for five saves in goal.

NORTH PENN 2, CB WEST 1 » Kristin Varilla scored with less than five minutes remaining to lift North Penn over Central Bucks West Monday.

The game-winner was started in the backfield by Madison Waldspurge­r, who won a ball in the midfield and, after a passing sequence down the left side of the field, a pass was made to sophomore Eleni Kountroubi­s in the circle. She found Varilla for the gamewinner.

North Penn’s Meghan Daniels and West’s Casey Reichwein each scored in the first half.

ABINGTON 2, WISSAHICKO­N

1» Grace Ball scored off an assist from Sarah Campbell but the Trojans fell short on Monday. Meghan Reilly made three saves in net for Wisshickon.

Perk Valley (5-0 PAC Liberty, 7-0 overall) led 8-0 by the half and limited Boyertown to just one shot on goal for the game. Gabby Martina and Katie Wuerstle both added a goal and an assist while Teresa Bartkowski, Emma Lafferty and Olivia Keyte each added a goal in the win.

2» Dock and New Hope battled to a double overtime tie Monday.

Aiden Kelly and Matthew Levy each scored for the Pioneers.

Ben Koeppen and Jake Jaquemont scored for New Hope. Jaquemont’s goal tied the game at two in the 70th minute.

Brandon Duke and Colin Trainor registered first-half goals for Spring-Ford before Trainor scored with 7:21 left in regulation. OJR’s Gavin Zorn scored his team’s lone goal while Ryan Walker made five saves. POPE JOHN PAUL II 7, POTTSTOWN 0 » The Golden Panthers scored five goals during the first half and never looked back on the way to a win over the Trojans in a PAC Frontier Division matchup.

Justin Russell had a goal and two assists while AJ Williams, Jack Marinello, Terry Yang, Tommy Rutkowski, Matt Kossey and Dylan Russ each scored once. Joey Mazzio and Salvy Marano each added an assist in the win.

» The Pioneers swept Chester Charter in dominating fashion Monday night, winning the sets 25-0, 25-9, 259.

Dock’s Becca Brown served 24 straight points in the first game, including 15 aces.

2» The Bears claimed the final two sets to rally back and claim a five-set victory during their PAC match against the Rams.

Set scorers were 20-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-8.

Taylor Jones posted 12 assists, five kills, four aces and three digs while Julia Smith posted 12 digs, two aces and two assists. Emily Wolfe posted five kills, five blocks and three digs while Emma Ludwig posted 12 assists, seven digs and seven kills.
