FRANCONIA >> North Penn overcame a 17-0 first-half deficit to earn a 29-27 win over rival Souderton Area Friday night in a Suburban One League Continental Conference battle.

The Knights remained perfect at 7-0 overall, improving to 3-0 in the conference. Souderton saw its three-game win streak stopped, dropping to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

North Penn took the lead for good, 21-20, when Shamar Edwards scored on a two-yard run in the third quarter. The Knights converted a Big Red turnover into a touchdown in the final two minutes, with quarterback Solomon Robinson running in from 13 yards out to make it 27-20. A penalty on Souderton moved the conversion attempt to the one, and the Knights cashed in with a run by Edwards, extending to a 29-20 advantage.

Souderton scored with a minute to play on an Andrew Vince to Nick Guthre connection, cutting it to 29-27, but NP recovered an onside kick and ran out the clock to stay perfect on the season.

Souderton Area built a 17-0 lead in the first half.

Big Red opened the scoring on their first drive, with Ethan Moyer pushing in from six yards out. Souderton doubled its lead two possessions later, a 71-yard pass from Vince to Tre Samuels making it 14-0.

William Leyland booted 38yard field goal to extend it to 17-0.

North Penn came back, getting on the board when Robinson connected with Jon Haynes

for a 59-yard TD. The extra point was missed, leaving it 17-6.

The Knights got closer when Edwards scored on a three-yard run, and Robinson ran in for two, cutting it to 17-14.

UPPER DUBLIN 14, QUAKERTOWN 13 >> Lucas Roselli came through when he most needed to.

The Upper Dublin senior running back scored the goahead touchdown then converted first down after first down on the game sealing drive. After a dismal first half, UD roared back after halftime.

In the end, it was enough to lift the Cardinals to a 1413 win over Quakertown.

The first half was all Quakertown. After marching down the field off the opening kickoff, eating five minutes of clock and booting a 22-yard Gavin Croissette field goal, the Panthers got the ball right back.

Upper Dublin’s first play was a 63-yard screen pass to Lucas Roselli. It’s second was a tip-drill pick by Quakertown. The Cardinals defense held, but Max Russell’ 16-yard sack of Mike Slivka on the following drive forced UD into a punt.

UD’s third drive ended when a low snap forced the punter’s knee down trying to grab it, giving Quakertown the ball at the UD 19. Michael Terra ended the drive with a six-yard run.

Quakertown took a 13-0 lead to half when Croissette kicked a 20-yard field goal on the final play of the second quarter.

In the first half, Upper Dublin ran 15 non-punting plays. Quakertown ran 38, not counting its punts and the two field goals.

Upper Dublin almost outdid its first half output on its first drive of the third quarter. Finding traction on the ground, the Cardinals moved like Quakertown did on its first drive and punched in a threeyard touchdown on Mason Novak’s fullback dive.

Quakertown’s Terra was injured on the point after try.

The Panthers marched back down but came up empty on a field goal try.

Upper Dublin, with Lucas Roselli leading the charge, took its first lead in the fourth quarter. The senior tailback caught a crucial third down conversion, then Novak bullied his way to a couple first downs before Slivka found Roselli for a 10-yard screen pass TD with 7:10 to go.

Quakertown went right back down the field. A receiver throwback to Tim Garlick netted 40 yards to flip the field.

A fourth and nine conversion put the Panthers on the door, then on the next play, Logan Heim punched the ball loose and Upper Dublin recovered.

UPPER MORELAND 25, WISSAHICKON 15 >> In a 25-15 victory, Caleb Mead rushed for four touchdowns and over 1,000 yards in seven weeks against Wissahickon High School last Friday Night.

Mead’s biggest run of the night was 81 yards for a touchdown early in the first quarter to gain a 12-0 lead.

Wissahickon was able to take the lead on the first play of the third quarter with a 66-yard touchdown pass from Chris Santo to Maurice Willis.

However, the Upper Moreland defense scored a safety and Mead scored two more touchdowns for the win.

With the loss, the Wissahickon Trojans remain winless going 0-7 to start the season.

With the win, Upper Moreland bounces back from a tough loss at home last week against Hatboro-Horsham.
