PHILADELPHIA >> Weight Watchers of Philadelphia Inc. has announced that it will now be doing business as WW Philadelphia.

The shift comes on the heels of Weight Watchers International becoming WW, reflecting what it describes as the “next stage in the company’s evolution to focus on overall health and wellness,” according to a press release.

A new WW tagline, “Wellness That Works,” will be leveraged to reflect the company’s heritage and overall approach to health and well-being by inspiring habits that are rooted in science.

“We are aligning with the global corporate brand evolution. We will continue to help people lose weight and are inspired to support the broader mission of becoming a partner in wellness for all,” John Birnhak, president of WW Philadelphia, said in the release.

WW Philadelphia serves members across southwestern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania at WW Studios including six locations in Berks, seven locations in Chester, five locations in Delaware and 10 locations in Montgomery counties.

According to Mindy Grossman, WW president and CEO, the organization is working to become “the world’s partner in wellness.”

“No matter what your goal is — to lose weight, eat healthier, move more, develop a positive mind set or all of the above — we will deliver science-based solutions that fit into people’s lives,” she said. “This is just the beginning of our journey to become the world’s partner in wellness and I am inspired by the potential for our impact.”

In addition, WW is evolving how it is integrated into people’s lives. As a technology experience company, WW has made several enhancements to the digital experience, from partnerships in voice and mindset to new and enhanced tools focused on activ-

ity tracking and community building, according to the release.

To inspire healthy habits, WW launched WellnessWins, a first-of-its-kind program that rewards members for small, everyday behaviors that are proven to lead to healthier habits. Members earn “Wins” for tracking meals, activity and weight, as well as for attending WW Wellness Workshops. According to the release, results from a pilot program showed “increased engagement, satisfaction and retention.”

WW has also launched a beta version of voice integration with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, which enable WW members to use their voices to look up SmartPoints values for their food, get updates on their progress on their daily SmartPoints, track foods, and quick-add SmartPoints to their tracker.

WW is also gearing up for the launch of Connect Groups, a new way to strengthen WW’s studio community — to help and help foster meaningful relationships that inspire healthy habits.

Now in its 54th year, WW Philadelphia serves as many as 20,000 members weekly in 450 local WW Wellness Workshops.
