The defensive end position allows Stephen Reutlinger to make his impact felt.

“Just making contact,” he said of what he relishes most. “I like it because you’re in on every play.”

Reutlinger leaves his fingerprints on any game he competes in. Standing out at the OffenseDefense Football Camp this past summer, the 14-year-old from Perkasie was named an Offense-Defense All-American and invited to participate in the 13th Annual Offense-Defense Bowl Week festivities from Dec. 26-31 down in Daytona Beach, Fla.

“I’m really excited. I’m more excited to go back and show what I can do,” said the Pennridge freshman, who will be making his third straight appearance at the event.

The Offense-Defense All-American Bowl is the culmination of a week of events. Also included is an All-Star football game, showcasing 88 of the top high school seniors in the country. In the past, the contest featured current NFL players such as Lamar Jackson (Ravens), Saquon Barkley (Giants), Cam Newton (Panthers), Joe Haden (Steelers) and Myles Jack (Jaguars) before they were collegiate and later professional stars.

Reutlinger looks forward to the opportunity to play in front

of several college scouts.

“It’s really cool, a really good experience. It’s fun, but a lot of hard work,” he said. “The competition is outstanding. Everybody is so much better than what you’re used to going against.”

The defensive end got to battle against a lot of East Coast kids but also ones from as far away as Hawaii and California.

As a freshman this past fall, he played Junior Varsity for Pennridge and also played 30 varsity snaps.

“It helps you mature,” he said of the many experiences he’s gained in football.

Offense-Defense Sports has been running full-contact football instructional camps for the past 50 years and currently operates in approximately 80 camp locations nationwide all year long.
