15 locals chosen for Mini Max High School Award

Fifteen area football players were among the 63 players the Maxwell Football Club announced as 2018 Mini Max High School Award winners for the state of Pennsylvan­ia Thursday.

Local award winners were Abington’s Keith Hudoka, Archbishop Wood’s Connor Bishop, Bishop McDevitt’s Lawrence Richardson, Cheltenham’s Marcus Winfield, Germantown Academy’s Elijah Wroten, Hatboro-Horsham’s Mark Custer, Jenkintown’s Cade Lafferty, La Salle’s Sean Daly, North Penn’s Jake Walton, Pennridge’s Jonathan Post, Perkiomen Valley’s Austin Rowley, Soudeton’s Austin Moyer, Springfiel­d-Montco’s Max Perry, Spring-Ford’s Nick Delromano, and Upper Merion’s Mark Picariello.

The award winners were selected from PIAA districts 1, 3, 11 and 12 and were nominated by coaches throughout the 2018 season on criteria that included football performanc­e, academics and community service.

Mini-Max Award recipients will be honored at a dinner Jan. 10 at the Drexelbroo­k Catering Ballroom in Drexel Hill. The dinner is open to the public with tickets available at www.maxwellfoo­tballclub. org.

At the awards dinner, the Maxwell Football Club will select one of the 63 players as winner of the Pennsylvan­ia High School Player of the Year. The Pennsylvan­ia, New Jersey and Delaware Player of the Year award winners will be candidates for the Jim Henry Award as the Outstandin­g Player in the region. The Jim Henry Award will be announced at the Maxwell Football Club’s National Awards Gala March 8 at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
