Along with the cars, there will also be British music and food — fish and chips, an event coordinator said.

PERKASIE >> This won’t be the first time Walnut Street is part of Perkasie’s Under the Stars car show.

“We’ve often used it for overflow parking,” Linda Reid, the borough’s events coordinator, said.

This time will be different, though.

“This year, we’re giving it its own identity,” Reid said.

West Walnut Street and and South 6th Street will have a British car display, she said.

Along with the cars, there will also be British music and food — fish and chips — she said.

“You can get your photograph taken with the queen,” she said.

Actually, that will be a cutout figure of Queen Elizabeth II, she said, and there will also be ones of other royal family members.

“I think it’ll be really festive,” Reid said.

The British car portion of Under the Stars is sponsored by Perkasie Historical Society and Ragtops & Roadsters, she said. Perkasie Borough, Perkasie Towne Improvement Association and Grandview Service Center present Under the Stars, she said.

This will be the first time there will be car show vendors on 6th Street, she said. People can visit the vendors while strolling to the British display, she said. The British car section is expected to continue each year at the annual car show, she said.

This is the 21st year for Under the Stars, which this year is 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 on downtown Perkasie streets.

“Under the Stars is one of the region’s premier car shows. Over 400 antique, classic and custom vehicles line Perkasie’s historic town center, drawing over 4,000 visitors from across the region,” car show information on the Perkasie Borough website says.

Along with the main trophies, there are six business sponsored trophies, 50 top 50 plaques and commemorative dash plaques for the first 400 show cars arriving, Reid said. There will be special awards for the British section.

In addition to downtown restaurants, there will be several food trucks or food vendors at Under the Stars, she said. Those will include Big Guys Hot Dogs, Happy Snacks, Free Will Brewing Company, Hickory Kitchen, J&J Kettle Korn, Perkasie Lions Club and K’s Kitchen, she said.

The Perkasie Historical Society Museum at 513 W. Walnut Street will also be open 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 with a “Perkasie 140th Anniversary: Business and Industry” exhibit. The exhibit will also be open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 14 and 15.

“Only vehicles displaying the correct license plate and hang tag will be permitted to access this lot from 7th St.,” information on the borough website says.

The car show is a crowded event, Reid said, so bicycles, scooters or skateboards are not allowed. Service animals are allowed.

All beverage containers should be covered to avoid spills on persons or vehicles, Reid said.

Pre-registration is required for British vehicles. Pre-registration or day of event registration is available for other vehicles, but pre-registered vehicles are parked first, information on the borough website says. Pre-registration is open until the end of the day on Aug. 14.
