All creatures great and small

First Baptist Church Lansdale: The Humane Society of the United States seeks to engage people and institutio­ns of faith with animal protection issues on the premise that religious values call upon us all to act in a kind and merciful way towards all creatures. Erica Geppi of the Faith Outreach Division of the HSUS will speak more about this topic at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at First Baptist, 700 N. Broad St., Lansdale. There will be vegan and vegetarian fare to sample.

Experience Kirtan

Vacation Bible School

Central Schwenkfel­der Church: A “Roar: Life is Wild and God is Good” Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 to fifth-grade is going to be held 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 18-22 at the Central Community Center in Worcester Township. North Wales: In honor of North Wales Incorporat­ion Day Aug. 20, the bells of each of the borough’s churches will ring at 6:32 p.m.

Need school supplies?

Tabor United Methodist Church: With another school year about to begin, bring your children to the church at 2209 Hendricks Station Road, Woxall, Upper Salford, from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 17, and let them pick out their backpack and school supplies. Service notes

Church of the Holy Spirit: The church at 2871 Barndt Road and Sumneytown Pike, Upper Salford, will hold a Celtic Healing Service Aug. 22. A picnic meal starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by a healing service in the Celtic tradition. The service combines meditative silence, prayer and faithful commitment to care for the earth. Trinity Lutheran Church: “Church on the Lawn,” a casual, intimate, dog- and kid-friendly form of worship, is held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays through August on the front lawn facing Main Street at 1000 W. St. Peter’s Lutheran Church: Jazz Vespers is held the first Sunday of the month at 7 p.m. This non-traditiona­l evening service featuring jazz music blended with prayers, a spiritual message and other elements of worship. Local musicians are encouraged to join in (arrive by 6:30). A free-will offering will be taken. The church is at 211 S. Main St., North Wales.

Christ Covenant Church: During August Christ Covenant Church, 2200 Mainland Road, Towamencin, will be supporting Shepherd’s Shelf in Kulpsville with donations of non-perishable food/ items. Supplies especially needed in restocking the pantry are: men’s deodorant, chunky soups, canned fruit, applesauce, Chef Boyardee products, syrup, toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, diapers, baby wipes, and dry and canned cat food. At this time they do not need corn or green beans. Contributi­ons may be dropped off at the church office Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays
