The credit union donates $45,000 to fund various agency initiatives and events across Pennsylvania.

HARRISBURG >> Digital credit union PSECU recently made a donation totaling $45,000 to the American Heart Association (AHA). The donation represents the financial institution’s annual contribution to the organization’s efforts in Pennsylvania to fund innovative research, advocate for the public’s health and share lifesaving resources.

“On behalf of our more than 450,000 members, we’re pleased to be able to provide financial support to the American Heart Association. This association does outstanding work benefiting all of our members and the greater community, and we appreciate that,” George Rudolph, PSECU president and CEO, said in a statement. “Likewise, we truly value the longstanding partnership we’ve maintained with AHA to help us build a healthy work environment for our employees, because the better we care for them, ultimately, the better they will be able to care for our valued members.”

The donation from PSECU will be used to fund various Heart Association initiatives and events across Pennsylvania. Last year, the credit union supported several Heart Walk events and four Go Red for Women events.

The American Heart Association took the opportunity during the check presentation event, held at PSECU’s Harrisburg headquarters, to present the credit union with

the award recognizing its achievement of silver level in the Workplace Health Achievement Index.

The American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Achievement Index uses “science-based best practices to evaluate the overall quality and comprehensiveness of a company’s workplace health programs,” according to a press release.

“The American Heart Association is committed to saving more lives from heart disease and stroke, and that starts by helping people make healthy changes every day where they live and work,” Ashley Schade, regional vice president of development for the American Heart Association, said in the release. “Having support

from large employers like PSECU that make the health of their employees and communities a priority is essential for our organization to pursue its mission and sets an example for other local companies that want a healthier workforce and community.”

In addition to its annual American Heart Association sponsorship, PSECU held its inaugural employee volleyball tournament in September — bringing its more than 900 Pennsylvania-based employees together to raise more than $10,000 for the Heart Association.
