Night at the Races: Saturday March 7, 2020
: 6 pm - 10 pm “NIGHT AT THE RACES” at SS Peter and Paul School Hall, 550 Hurst Street, Bridgeport, PA organized by local Knights of Columbus to benefit our Bridgeport Community. Purchase a horse for $25 which includes your admittance, Food & Beer. Owner of winning horse in each race receives $ 50. Individual bets will be taken on all races. (Minimum age requirement is 21). Swedesford Garden Club: Meets on March 9th at 6:45 PM at the North Wales Area Library, 233 Swartley Street, North Wales, PA. The program will be a “Spring Arrangement” workshop. Club member, Mia Dorazio, will lead participants in the creation of two arrangements. One arrangement will be donated to a local rehab center. Free Movie Night: The Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Parish, Bridgeport, will host the showing of the movie in which Fr. Don Calloway, Emmy award winner and bestselling author of the book, “Champions of the Rosary: The History and Heroes of a Spiritual Weapon,” presents the fascinating history of a devotion that changed history. This takes place on Tuesday, March 10, at 7 pm. The Historical Society of Montgomery County will present two classes on researching the history of your house. March 11 and March 18, 2020, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Many people entering the doors of our fundamental tools you’ll need to start seeing your house in a new light. We’ll cover introductory topics on historic architecture including: formal and vernacular architecture, regional differences in house types (pre-1850), basic styles and construction techniques from 1700 to 1920, how to measure and draw a house, and how to look around at the landscape of houses in Montgomery County. Part 2 of the course, “Researching Your Home,” on March 18, 2020, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, will examine various documents related to house construction and occupancy that will give researchers more information about how houses and architecture function. We’ll look at deeds and probate records, mechanics’ liens, maps, census and tax records, and other sources of documentary evidence related to houses. We’ll also spend part of this session looking at various local and regional resources that relate to the restoration and preservation of historic architecture. The Lure of Antique Clocks: At the Pottstown Historical Society, 568 High St., Pottstown, Pa. March Meeting - Monday, March 16th, 7:00pm. Guest speaker for the evening will be Don Muzyka, who will talk about “The Lure of Antique Clocks”. Don is from Massachusetts but has made his home in the Reading area for the last 50 years. He has a BS, MS and PhD in engineering and retired in 2000 as CEO of a major company in the high-performance alloy business. He and his wife, Eileen, have three sons. Don has been collecting and restoring antique clocks for nearly 50 years and Eileen is an expert on restoring them, too. They will talk about how they started collecting clocks and how they got in to repairing them along with some photographs of various clocks and details of the movements. All are welcome and light refreshments will be served.

36th Annual Spaghetti Dinner: Boy Scout Troop 481 is pleased to announce it’s 36th Annual Spaghetti Dinner being held at Mother Teresa Regional Catholic School on Allendale Road in King of Prussia on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 4pm to 8pm. EPZ Performance Series: Elmwood Park Zoo is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Centre Theater in Norristown that will combine zoo visits with admission to the iconic theater’s exciting new performance series. Free health screenings at St. Patrick Church hall, DeKalb and Chestnut streets, Norristown, from noon to 3 on the first Sunday of every month. The faculty and students from St. Joseph’s University Institute for bioethics, the Sisters of Mercy Health Services and many others have been key players in helping our parish with this important outreach as we have expanded the services provided. Several of our own parishioners have been trained as health promoters and do the screening with the help of others. We are continuing to expand the range of services to include referrals to clinics. The goals of this effort are to increase medical knowledge and care, to save lives and to enable better use of hospital resources. The focus is on the underserved populations near us, but we welcome all parishioners to come see what’s happening and see if there may be a role for you.
