Senior center plans car parade Saturday
A new senior center in Towamencin has changed their plans a bit, and has announced a new way to introduce themselves and bring a new sight to the community.
“The Landing of Towamencin” announced on Thursday their plans to host a special classic car parade on Saturday, May 23.
“COVID-19 prevented us from having our planned grand opening for The Landing of Towamencin,” said Tracy Polacheck, General Manager of The Landing.
“So, we thought we would join forces with the Doylestown Road Angels and involve the entire community for something fun and different,” she said.
Located on Towamencin Avenue just west of Forty Foot Road, The Landing of Towamencin is a personaland memory-care facility featuring a mix of studio, one- and twobedroom apartments and suites. While the facility opened its doors in February and gradually welcomed residents throughout the spring, in early
March officials from The Landing had asked for permission from the township to host a welcome parade on April 25, plans that were put on hold after the onset of COVID-19.
The latest plans now call for a parade starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, when drivers with the car club will show off their street rods, rat rods, custom cars, antiques, and classic cars, with a parade of about 20 vehicles led by one of the senior living community’s shuttle buses. The parade will cruise through Towamencin and Lansdale,
then return to park at The Landing where residents can check the vehicles out, while maintaining safe distancing and wearing masks.
In a statement Thursday, The Landing and parent company Leisure Care voiced thanks to the Doylestown Road Angels “for pulling together and bringing this special event to the community.”
