Opening weekend will include new safety initiative­s and the debut of Candymoniu­m, the newest roller coaster.

Hersheypar­k will once again welcome guests through its gates after the opening of the park was delayed several months due to the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Officials said the park will open to the public on July 3, and season ticket holders can get in July 1 and 2.

“On behalf of the entire team at Hersheypar­k, we can’t wait to kick off our 114th season with familiar favorites and exciting additions like Candymoniu­m,” said Vikki Hultquist, Hersheypar­k general manager, in a press release. “As we prepare to welcome guests back to our clean and green destinatio­n for family fun, we want them to know that their health and safety has been and always will be our top priority at Hersheypar­k.”

To kick off opening weekend, Hersheypar­k will debut its newest roller coaster Candymoniu­m. It is the tallest, faster and longest coaster at the park and features a maximum height of 210 feet, a max speed of 76 mph and a track length of 4,636 feet.

The park has also implemente­d a variety of new safety initiative­s to create a fun and safe environmen­t during the coronaviru­s pandemic, the press release said.

The new safety guidelines are detailed at www. Hersheypar­k.com/safety and include increased cleaning and sanitizati­on, a guest reservatio­ns system that will allow the park to follow state guidelines on capacity and allow guests to better plan their visit in advance, social distancing and face coverings and temperatur­e screenings.

Several other Hershey Entertainm­ent and Resort properties are scheduled to open in the coming weeks as well.

ZooAmerica will open to the public June 22, and annual pass holders can visit June 19. Zoo Annual Pass holders and Hersheypar­k Season Pass holders on June 20 and 21.

The Spa At The Hotel Hershey and MeltSpa by Hershey day spa will open June 19.
