Doylestown beat the night, and rival Deep Run, rallying for a 7-6 victory in a Bux-Mont Connie Mack contest Wednesday evening.

With Deep Run runners on second and third and one out in the bottom of the seventh, the game was called for darkness, and the visitors held on for a key, onerun win that raised their record to 5-6.

“This team has really bonded,” first baseman Harrison Yim said as he and his teammates try to make a late-season push. “We play well together and have fun.

“This is a really big win because we really need to get up in the standings.”

Yim had one of his two RBIs in a pivotal fifth inning, which provided Doylestown a crucial 7-4 advantage that would prove to be just enough.

“It’s all about those RBI,” Yim said. “We really needed to focus on that and I think we did that tonight.”

Deep Run, still in the thick of it at 4-5-1, hosts Harleysville Friday at 6 p.m. while Doylestown gets ready to host Fort Washington Saturday at 4 p.m.

BACK AND FORTH » Doylestown put something together the first time it came up to bat.

Tony DeMichael and Josh Shiller each drew walks. With two outs, Yim ripped a single to

right to put the visitors on the board.

“We really wanted to get the offense going early,” said Yim, who went 2-for-4 on the evening.

Matt Jermyn belted a double, driving in another to put D-town up 2-0.

Jaden Morgan doubled and scored on a ground ball by Ryan DeHaven to cut the margin in half in Deep Run’s at-bat, but Doylestown pushed the lead to 3-1 in the third when Tommy Donnelly doubled and scored on an error.

Then came Deep Run’s third time up.

Alex Fantasky singled, Nick Rosica followed with a walk, and Joey Calabretti socked a three-run home run to left, pushing Deep Run into the lead for the first time, 4-3.

BACK IT SWUNG » Doylestown took control in the fifth.

Donnelly led off with a walk, stole second, and Tony DeMichael smacked a double to even things at four apiece.

Jon Perillo followed with a double of his own, pushing the visitors in front and forcing Deep Run to go to its bullpen.

Josh Shiller drew a walk, and run-scoring ground balls by Yim and Rooney stretched the lead to 7-4.

CALABRETTI HOMERS AGAIN » The evening was twice as nice for Calabretti when the switch hitter smacked his second home run of the night — this one lefthanded — to cut into the Doylestown lead, making it 7-6 in the fifth.

Colin Finlay reached on an error to start Deep Run’s seventh and Gavin Healy moved him over to second on a sacrifice bunt.

Alex Fantasky singled Finlay over to third and then Fantasky stole second. But with Nick Rosica up to bat, the game was called for darkness.
