The family of a 61-year-old cyclist seriously injured in a hit-and-run last week is making a public plea for help finding the driver involved in the crash.

According to a statement from family members, the victim, identified as Dean Clark, of Schwenksville, was hit as he was riding his bike around 7:25 p.m. on Aug. 26 in a neighborhood in the 500 block of Schwenksville Road.

Following the incident, the family said a car, which was described as a “burgundy or maroon sedan” then “fled the scene headed west on Schwenksville Road toward East Park Avenue and Main Street.”

The vehicle’s windshield, left side and front exterior were damaged, according to the family’s statement.

The victim’s son, Eric Clark, said a neighbor called emergency personnel, and his father was “taken by Medevac helicopter to the hospital.”

“A longtime Schwenksville resident, he is an avid cyclist and beloved husband, father, and grandfather,” the family said in a statement.

Clark said his father was initially in critical condition, and while his condition has improved somewhat, he has a “long road ahead” with the recovery process.

“Our family is really coming together to make sure that he has the best care that he needs,” Clark said.

The family is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact police.

State police at Skippack are in charge of the investigation.

Anyone with information should call state police at 610584-1250 or email Trooper Brian Kedra at bkedra@pa.gov.
