Soccer, field hockey playoff paths continues
Area soccer, field hockey teams look to push further into District 1 tournaments
The Reporter/Times Herald/ Montgomery Media area schools had plenty of success in the first round of the boys soccer, girls soccer and field hockey District 1 playoffs.
The second round, which is the quarterfinal round, semifinal round or championship depending on the classification, begins Thursday.
In boys soccer, North Penn, Pennridge, Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland represent area schools from the Suburban One League. Spring-Ford is still alive from the Pioneer Athletic Conference and Faith Christian Academy remains from the Bicentennial Athletic League.
For girls soccer, Hatboro-Horsham, Abington and Pennridge are all still around from the SOL. Spring-Ford and Pope John Paul II are competing from the PAC, Gwynedd Mercy Academy from the Athletic Association of Catholic Academies and Dock Mennonite from the BAL.
In the field hockey playoffs, Wissahickon, Plymouth Whitemarsh and Springfield (Montco) represent the SOL area schools while Methacton remains from the PAC and Gwynedd Mercy from the AACA.

at our area teams.
Boys Soccer Class 4A
SPRING-FORD VS. WEST CHESTER EAST » No. 9 Spring-Ford travels to No. 1 West Chester in the District 1-4 A quarterfinals Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The Rams topped No. 9 Boyertown, 1-0, while WC East needed PKs to get past No. 16 Souderton, 2-1.
Spring-Ford will look to upset the district’s top seed after winning five of its last six games. The Rams started the season 3-3-1.
The winner advances to the District 1-4 A semifinals Tuesday Nov .10 where it will face the winner of Pennridge and Upper Dublin.
PENNRIDGE VS. UPPER DUBLIN » No. 12 Pennridge hosts No. 13 Upper Dublin in the District 1-4A quarter finals Thursday at 5 p.m.
Both Suburban One League teams pulled off upsets in the first round. Carlos Erazo scored in the final minute of regulation to give the Rams a 1-0 win over No. 5 Abington. Josiah Kutai scored for the Cardinals in their 2-0 win over No. 4 Downingtown West.
Pennridge enters the quarterfinal matchup off of two big wins — a regular season finale winor-go-home decision over Hatboro-Horsham and the first-round upset — while Upper Dublin is riding a five-game winning streak.
The winner advances to the District 1-4 A semifinals Tuesday Nov .10 where it will face the winner of Spring-Ford and West Chester East.

JoJo Dalwadhi scored in overtime to lift the Knights to a 1-0 win over No. 11 Perk Valley in the first round while CB South upset No. 3 Unionville, 3-0.
SOL Colonial rivals North Penn and CB South faced twice in the regular season. The Knights won both games, 1-0, on Oct. 1 and Oct. 20.
The winner advances to the District 1-4A semif ina ls Tuesday Nov. 10 where it will face the winner of Pennsbury and Neshaminy.

Class 1A
FAITH CHRISTIAN VS. DELCO CHRISTIAN » No. 1 Faith Christian hosts No. 2 Delco Christian in the District 1-A championship game Thursday at 7 p.m.
Both teams reached the finals with 1-0 wins in the semis. Faith topped No. 4 The Christian Academy while Delco Christian got past No. 3 Dock Mennonite.
These teams met in the regular season on Oct. 15. Faith won, 2-0.
The winner advances to the PIA A Class 1A state playoffs.
Girls Soccer Class 4A
SPRING-FORD VS. OWEN J. ROBERTS » No. 5 Springford travels to No. 4 Owen J. Roberts in the District 1-4A quarterfinals Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Rams beat No. 12 CB West, 1-0, in the first round while the Wildcats knocked out No. 13 Unionville, 1-0.
The PAC r iva ls split their two regular season meetings. OJR won, 2-1, on Oct. 5 and Spring-Ford won, 3-2, on Oct. 17. The home team won both times.
The winner advances to the District 1-4A semifinals Tuesday Nov. 10 to face the winner of Hatboro-Horsham and Downingtown East.
The Rams hammered No. 14 Great Valley, 6-1, behind two goals from Lindsey DeHaven in the first round while Pennsbury upset No. 6 Council Rock, 2-1.
Pennridge is 11-1 this season. Nine of the Rams wins have come by more than one goal.
The winner advances to the District 1-4A semifinals Tuesday Nov. 10 to face the winner of Abington and Avon Grove.

Class 3A
POPE JOHN PAUL II VS. VILLA JOSEPH MARIE » No. 4 Pope John Paul II travels to No. 1 Villa Joseph Marie for a District 1-3 A semifinal game Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
The Golden Panthers won their first-round matchup, 1-0, over No. 5 Phoenixville. Villa Joseph Marie topped No. 8 Upper Perkiomen, 2-0.
Villa Joseph Marie is undefeated this year with an 8-0 record, outscoring opponents 39-1 on the season. PJP is 5-3 and enters the game on a three-game winning streak.
The winner advances to the District 1-3A championship Tuesday Nov. 10 to face the winner of Gwynedd Mercy Academy and Villa Maria.
GWYNEDD MERCY ACADEMY VS. VILLA MARIA » No. 3 Gwynedd Mercy Academy travels to No. 2 Villa Maria for a District 1-3A semifinal game Friday at 2:30 p.m.
GMA beat No. 6 Upper Moreland, 3-1, in the first round while Villa handled No. 7 West Chester East, 3-0.
These AACA rivals met twice over the last two weeks and each one once. GMA won, 4-3, on Oct. 23 while Villa picked up a 3-0 win on Oct. 28. The road team won both meetings.
The winner advances to the District 1-3A championship Tuesday Nov. 10 to face the winner of Pope John Paul II and Villa Joseph Marie.
Class 1A
DOCK MENNONITE VS. CALVARY CHRISTIAN » No. 1 Dock Mennonite hosts No. 3 Calvary Christian in the District 1-A championship game Thursday at 6 p.m.
The Pioneers reached the finals with a 1-0 win over No .4 Del co Christian. Cal vary Christian handled No. 2 Faith Christian, 3- 0, in the semifinals.
Dock and Cal vary Christian split a pair of regular season matchups. Dock won, 2-1, on Sept. 23 while Calvary Christian won by the same score on Oct. 12.
The winner also earns a spot in the PIAA Class-A state tournament.

Field Hockey Class 3A
WI SSA HI CK ON VS. CB SOUTH » No. 7 Wissahickon hosts No. 16 CB South in the District 1-3 A quarter finals Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Aiden Drabick scored three goals in the Trojans 3-2 win over No. 9 Souderton in the first round. South upset top-seeded defending champion Downingtown West, 2-1.
Wissahickon is 12- 4 coming into this game. Two of their losses were one-goal defeats to District 1-3A quarterfinalist Plymouth Whitemarsh.
The winner advances to the semifinals Tuesday to take on the winner of Great Valley and CB East.

ME TH ACT ON VS. NESHAMINY » No .7 Methacton travels to No .2 Neshaminy in the District 1-3A quarterfinals Thursday at 3 p.m.
Bayla Plower and Bene Catoia scored in the Warriors 2-0 first-round win over No. 10 Perk Valley. Neshaminy edged No. 15 Owen J. Roberts, 2-1.
The Warriors are 8-1-3 entering this game, going 3-0-2 over their last five contests.
The winner advances to the semifinals Tuesday to take on the winner of Plymouth Whitemarsh and Kennett.
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH VS. KENNETT » No. 3 Plymouth W hitemarsh hosts No. 6 Kennett in the District 1-3A quarter finals Thursday at 3:45 p.m.
Kaleigh Missimer scored in the fourth quarter to lift the Colonials to a 1-0 win over No. 14 Avon Grove in the first round while Kennett handled No. 11 Council Rock South, 3-1.
Plymouth Whitemarsh, the 2019 District 1 runnerup, enters Thursday with a perfect 11-0 record. Kennett is also undefeated at 8-0.
The winner advances to the semifinals Tuesday to take on the winner of Methacton and Neshaminy.

Class 2A
GWYNEDD MERCY VS. UPPER PERKIOMEN » No. 3 Gwynedd Mercy Academy travels to No. 2 Upper Perkiomen for the District 1-2A semifinals Thursday at 4 p.m.
Alaina McVeigh scored three goals — to reach 99 in her career — in the Monarchs 10-2 quarterfinal win over No. 6 Phoenixville. Upper Perk blanked No. 7 Upper Dublin, 5-0.
GMA is 8-1 this year and enters the semifinals riding a four-game winning streak.
The winner will face the winner of Villa Maria and Merion Mercy in the championship Tuesday Nov. 10.
