Ardent donation helps feed families

-

Ardent Credit Union members have donated nearly $4,000 to several area organizations to fight food insecurity in the region. The Philadelphia-based credit union, with local branches in Wayne, Blue Bell, Oaks and Collegeville, held a month-long Halloweenthemed fundraiser in October — part of the credit union’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.

“As a community organization, we want to continue our efforts to give back, and we hope to take a little bit of stress off of families in need especially during the upcoming holiday season,” Rob Werner, president & CEO of Ardent Credit Union, said in a press release. “We are very touched by the support and involvement of our members, and the funds that we were able to raise throughout October, despite the hardships everyone is facing.”

Throughout the month, Ardent customers were able to purchase “Quack-o-Lanterns,” Halloween-themed rubber ducks, for $5 each at any branch. The collected funds were then donated to several nearby organizations helping to provide meals to local families. Branch donations were sent to Martha’s Choice Marketplace (Blue Bell branch), Phoenixville Area Community Services Inc. (Oaks branch), Wayne Food Pantry ( Wayne branch), and The Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission (Philadelphia branches).

In addition to the donations made from the October fundraiser, the credit union also recently contributed to Philabundance as part of that organization’s ongoing mission to fight hunger.

Ardent Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative, originally founded in 1977 by the employees of the SmithKline Corp. Ardent has more than $700 million in member assets. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Ardent serves Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks and Chester Counties. For more information, visit ArdentCU.org.
