FIRE DAMAGES HOME
Garage destroyed; firefighter treated for minor injury
LANSDALE >> A family had to vacate their home after a fire early Sunday morning ravaged a detached garage on their property, according to Rick Lesniak, Lansdale’s fire marshal and emergency management coordinator.
Lesniak said the Fairmount Fire Company crews responded to reports of a fire around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the 500 block of Winding Road in Lansdale.
While it’s unclear how long it took to extinguish the flames, Lesniak told MediaNews Group that the detached garage was completely destroyed.
“The residential house on the property sustained damage due to the radiant heat, and the neighboring dwelling experienced damage due to the radiant heat as well,” he continued.
Lesniak also noted that he was informed of reports of explosions during the incident. He confirmed that the structure contained several items such as aerosol cans and propane tanks, but he could not confirm if they caused the reported explosions.
