Easter, theater, comedy and music
Here are some events planned for this weekend throughout the region:
• Hersheypark kicks off its 115th season Friday through Sunday with Springtime in the Park. Tickets for the event include more than 40 family-friendly rides and attractions like Candymonium coaster, weather permitting; photo opportunities with Hershey Characters; and visits to ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park when accessing the zoo through the Hersheypark bridge during posted park hours. Hersheypark will debut two new culinary experiences in the new Hershey’s Chocolatetown region. Inspired by the vision of chocolate entrepreneur and founder, Milton S. Hershey, Milton’s Ice Cream
Parlor and The Sweeterie Confectionery Kitchen will open on Friday. The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio will open on Memorial Day Weekend. Springtime in the Park continues April 1011, 17-18 and 24-25. Park hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. To purchase passes, visit hersheypark.com.
• The Reading Fightin
Phils will host an Easter Festival on Saturday from noon to 2p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium, Reading. The event will include on-field egg hunts in age groups ranging from 2 and younger to 9 and older. In addition, the Easter Bunny will be on hand to take photos with fans. It is recommended that participants bring their own bags to hold collections. In addition, concessions will be open for business. Tickets to enter the stadium are $4per person.
An additional $4pass will be required to participate in the on-field activity. All passes must be pre-purchased at fightins.com.
• The Arden Theatre Company’s Spring Digital Season presents “Robi Hager: So Far,” a streaming cabaret of original music from the multi-talented Broadway actor, singer and songwriter, who has quickly become an Arden favorite, having been featured in productions such as “Next to Normal,” “Fun Home” and “Ragtime.” The show, which runs Monday through April 18, takes viewers on a journey through Hager’s original work, from his instrumental pieces to music from his popular musical “Basic Witches.” A native of Mexico City, Hager lives in Philadelphia and has been featured on Broadway in “Spring Awakening, “Doctor Zhivago,” “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and “Bye Bye Birdie.” Tickets are $30 per household at ardentheatre.org.
• West Reading Restaurant Week kicks off Tuesday and runs through April 17. Participating restaurants will be offering a three-course, $30 per person menu available for dine-in during dinner hours. The 14participating restaurants are Say Cheese!, Mom Chaffe’s Cellarette, Mad J’s BBQ at Willow Creek Brewery, Barley Mow Craft Beer House, Sly Fox Wyomissing, Mazi Greek Inspired, West Reading Tavern, Nonno Alby’s, GNA Ristorante and Pizzeria, Winedown, Chatty Monks Brewing Co., B2Bistro + Bar, La Abuela Mexican Restaurant and Beer Wall on Penn.
• “Comedy Tonight!,” the
new virtual production from Act II Playhouse in Ambler, is up and streaming through July 31, featuring an ensemble cast of Playhouse alumni. The show was created by and features Tony Braithwaite, Joe Mallon, Dan Matarazzo and Gianna Yanelli. It was filmed at the Playhouse with safety precautions in place for the cast and video production team. • Sellersville Theater presents four concerts this weekend with in-person and virtual options. Performing today at 8 p.m. is John Kadlecik Solo Acousti’Lectric. On Friday, The Land of Ozz presents its Ozzy Osbourne tribute at 6 and 9 p.m. And on Saturday, The Nighthawks perform at 8p.m. For ticket options, visit st94. com.
• SoulJoel’s Comedy Club,
