Upper Gwynedd Board of Commissioners: Asian American support statement
Once again, we find ourselves horrified by the senseless murders of 8 innocent people, 6 or whom were of Asian-American descent in Georgia on March 16, 2021. As we have stated before, we will take the necessary steps to make sure we secure change and equity in our community and dispel racism whenever and wherever we see or hear of it.
We, the Upper Gwynedd Township Board of Commissioners
are not just against racism but are antiracist. We stand in solidarity with our Asian-American residents to dismantle these institutionalized racist concepts. We stand with Asian-Americans across the country as we continue our commitment and pledge to break down the system of racism and oppression. As a municipality, our commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive community for all, will continue as we ask all residents to support one another and report any hate incidents to UGT Police Department immediately.
Also, on Thursday, April 22, Upper Gwynedd Township will hold its 2nd community conversation dealing with Discrimination, Diversity & Tips for Adapting to Our Changing Environment via Zoom. During this event, participants will learn about the PA Human Relations Commission and our brand new UGT Human Relations Commission. We encourage everyone to join us as we discuss embracing differences and developing skills for today’s communities. The program will begin at 7 p.m. and we ask you sign up on community pass: https: www.uppergwynedd. org/parks-recreation/programs-events or by calling the township at Statement: Board of Commissioners Asian American support statement215-699-7777
