UPPER GWYNEDD » A pair of updates to Montgomery County’s vote totals appear to have changed the outcome of only one race in the area.

Revised vote totals as of Thursday afternoon now show incumbent Democrats Liz McNaney and Denise Hull winning re-election over Republican challenger Michelle Rupp and write-in Republican Fred Hencken.

Results posted early Wednesday had Rupp finishing behind McNaney for one of two four-year terms on the township’s board of commissioners, but later vote counts posted Wednesday night and then Thursday afternoon put Hull back in the second spot.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, county totals indicated McNaney finished first among all candidates with 2,777 votes, then Hull with 2,680, followed by Rupp with 2,140 and 1,391 reported writein votes. County totals indicate the mail-in ballots were the difference, with McNaney and Hull both totaling roughly 1,300 votes by mail to 408 for Rupp and 186 write-ins, while Rupp won the dayof voting with 1,732 votes cast on election day to just under 1,500 for the two incumbents.

Rupp said Thursday she had no comment on the most recent stats, while the latest comment from the two Democrats was a post Wednesday evening saying “While election day is over, there are still over 900 mailin ballots to be counted. Stay tuned.”

Elsewhere in the region, all other races appeared to show the same results as earlier counts had indicated, with one race falling into the nail-biter category again. In the race for North Wales Mayor, Thursday’s vote totals had Republican incumbent Greg D’Angelo narrowly winning a third term over Democrat Neil McDevitt by a margin of 489 votes to 484, a five-vote margin nearly identical to their race in 2017.

Mail-in ballots have also narrowed the lead, but as of Thursday afternoon had not changed the result, of the race for two seats on Towamencin’s board of supervisors. As of 1 p.m. Thursday Republican incumbent Dan Bell and fellow Republican Kristin Warner led by fewer than 200 votes over Democrat challengers Joyce Snyder and Steven Kulp, with reported vote totals of 2,680 for Warner, 2,652 for Bell, then Snyder with 2,518 and Kulp with 2,429.

All results are based on preliminary vote totals announced by Montgomery County officials as of Thursday afternoon and are subject to change pending write-in and absentee votes. For more information follow The Reporter on Twitter @lansreporter.
