BLUE BELL/POTTSTOWN » Commemorating its original founders who came together 57 years ago, and the countless students who have received a high-quality, affordable education as a result, Montgomery County Community College and its Foundation will host the third annual “Day of Giving” fundraiser Tuesday, Dec. 7.

This year’s goal is to raise $5,700 during this 24-hour challenge to celebrate MCCC’s 57th anniversary. Each year, alumni, friends and family make the Day of Giving an unforgettable event. Past year donations have been essential to support students and the greatest needs of the College. To make a donation, visit mc3. edu/dayofgiving.

“The Day of Giving is one of the best ways to directly impact the needs of Montgomery County Community College students financially,” said Jay Browning, executive director of the Foundation. “Through your donation, you’ll help ensure they stay on the path to a successful and brighter future.”

The Day of Giving event is incredibly important to the College each year, because it identifies the greatest challenges students currently face and looks to find ways to support them, said Krissy Freeman, Associate Director of Annual Giving Programs.

Last year, for example, donations received during the Day of Giving were made to the Emergency Fund to support students’ needs during the pandemic, which included loss of employment, and food and housing insecurities. During the first year of the program, donations were made to the General Scholarships Fund which help with educationrelated costs including tuition, textbooks, supplies, uniforms, etc.

This year, donations received during the Day of Giving will be designated to the Student Technology Fund. The necessity of student access to technology on-and off-campus has only been emphasized over the past year. The goal is to help purchase devices for students who cannot afford them. This year’s donations made during the Day of Giving will help pay for student laptops, hot spots, monthly Wi-Fi bills, software and any technology required for specific courses, such as Nursing or Electrical Engineering Science.

“It directly helps a student stay on track without getting behind,” said Freeman.

The Foundation will once again be using peer-to-peer fundraising, she said.

“It’s a way for any donor or supporter of the College to become a

leader of the campaign,” she said, “and encourage their network of friends and family members to donate by setting a personal goal.”

fundraising page can be found online. For more information about the Day of Giving, or to make a donation on Dec. 7, visit mc3.edu/dayofgiving.
