Charlotte G. Dimmig

-

Charlotte G. Dimmig, 94, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of December 2, 2021. For the last eighteen years of her life, she resided at Dock Woods Retirement Community in Lansdale, PA.

Mrs. Dimmig was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Dimmig for 64 years; the devoted mother of Diane D. Reiley (Jim), and Douglas Dimmig (Jennifer); loving ‘Nana’ to Daniel Reiley (Megan), Carolyn Parish (Jeremy),

Devin Dimmig, Kent Dimmig, and Darci Dimmig; and ‘Great Nana’ to Zane Reiley, David Reiley, and Sarah Jane Parish. She is survived by her dear sister, Evelyn G. Graybeal of Easton, MD, and sister-in-law, Lynn Dimmig of Lansdale, and many dear nieces and nephews.

Born and raised on a farm in Drewryville, VA, Mrs. Dimmig was one of five children - one son and four daughters. Her parents, Marjorie and Monroe Grizzard, modeled a very strong work ethic and placed a high priority on education for all of their children. Charlotte graduated from Longwood University in Farmville, VA. She began graduate work at Teachers College, Columbia University and completed her Master of Education degree at Penn State University. From an early age, Charlotte demonstrated determination, a desire to succeed, and the ability to set goals and achieve them. Her

extroverted personality, energy, and leadership skills served her well throughout her life.

One of the great joys of her life was a teaching career that spanned thirty-five years. Mrs. Dimmig

taught Home Economics at Upper Merion Senior High School. From 1980 – 1988 she was the Department Assistant in the Fine Arts/Practical Arts programs where she taught a wide variety of interesting courses including Gourmet Foods, Advanced Clothing and Textiles, and Interior Decorating. In 1988 Charlotte was nominated for the PA Home Economics Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Dimmig was one of a group of teachers instrumental in developing a Life Skills course which became a requirement for graduation. She also played a large role in developing the Nursery School course, which not only served the preschool population in Upper

Merion, but gave the senior high students a hands-on opportunity to teach and work with young children. ‘Mrs. D.’ was well liked by parents, children, and students alike.

In her later years, Charlotte was an active volunteer in her church and at Dock Woods. She enjoyed helping in the Early Childhood Learning Center and also working in the Acorn shop. Her greatest delight was visits and calls from her family and friends. ‘Pizza on the patio’, lunch in the Bistro, dinner at

Christopher’s, lunches with friends from King of Prussia, and playing bridge with friends brightened her days.

A Memorial, Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 5th, at Huff and Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Avenue, Lansdale,

PA. Visitation will be at 9:00 AM with the service following at 10:00. There will be a private, family interment afterward.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Living Branches Foundation, Dock Woods/Dock Meadows Sharing Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
