Souderton Area School District website updated
FRANCONIA >> Soudertonsd. org has a new look and feel.
“We want visitors to identify with Souderton, what is our mission, what are we about,” Brigitte Bagocius, web development specialist, told the Souderton Area School Board Technology
Committee Aug. 10.
“With all of that, we have this huge volume of content and information that we’re trying to deliver in an organized fashion,” she said, “allowing people to get the information they need and get to it quickly and easily.”
The update, which went live the following morning, was a labor of love that had been discussed, planned and worked on over the past few years, district officials said.
One of the changes is that the nine district schools and the district site now follow the same pattern, Bagocius said.
“We have a lot of improvements in the navigation,” she said. The navigation bar stays at the top of the screen as users scroll down, she said.
Spanish and Vietnamese translations of the site are available.
“We also thought about our stakeholders and the many different ways and devices they’re using to navigate our site,” Bagacius said, giving as an example parents opening the site while sitting on the sidelines of their children’s soccer game.
The site gives the district more opportunity to showcase things going on, she said.
“We will be sitting on a new more powerful platform,” she said. “It will, I think, help us better organize and maintain the volume of content and keep it growing.”
“It’s streamlined. It’s consistent through each school,” committee Chair Nick Braccio said. “I really like it.”
“It looks really good. It’s nice and clean,” board member Tom Kwiatkowski said. “Things are easy to find and it’s nice to look at a website and not have banners all pop up and advertisements.”
