Dixon city is now seeking applicants for commission­s

Dixon residents who want to serve their communitie­s and happen to be knowledgea­ble of land use or traffic and transporta­tion, the city has openings for you.

Dixon is seeking applicatio­ns to fill two vacancies on its advisory committees, one for the Planning Commission and another for the Transporta­tion Advisory Commission. Both agencies vote on issues pertaining to their jurisdicti­on, with many of their recommenda­tions going to the City Council for final approval.

Applicants must live in Dixon to serve on either body, and a $50 stipend will be paid to commission­ers each month.

The Planning Commission votes and discusses matters related to planning and land use. Commission­ers ser ve fouryear terms with a maximum of two consecutiv­e terms. The vacancy in question would fill an unexpired term through June 30, 2023. The commission meets 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

The Transporta­tion Advisory Commission votes on matters related to transporta­tion, traffic and parking. As with the Planning Commission, members serve two four-year terms and the vacant position is an unexpired term that runs through June 30, 2023. The commission meets 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of evennumber­ed months.

Applicatio­ns can be picked up at City Hall, 600 East A St. Applicants may also call 678-7000 or visit the city’s website at Cityofdixo­n.us. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Oct. 5.
