Solano coach Sissi is featured speaker at local conference
Solano Community College Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach Sisleide do Amor Lima, known in the soccer world as Sissi, is a featured speaker at America SCORES Bay Area Soccer Summit held September 29-30.
The mission of the organization is to empower children to lead healthy lifestyles, be engaged and collaborative students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.
The summit explores the creation and development of youth leagues, youth clubs, adult amateur organizations, college rivalries, professional teams and events. It also looks into the future and explores how different soccer entities will navigate and reinvent themselves to stay relevant and survive the everchanging landscape of the world.
Sissi was a member of the Brazilian Women’s National Soccer Team and was inducted in 2019 into the International Soccer Hall of Fame.
At the summit, Sissi will be interviewed by Diane Scavuzzo, editor-in- chief of SoccerToday, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Sissi started playing soccer at the age of 6 when it was illegal for girls to play in Brazil. When her mom retrieved her from the pitch, she told Sissi that she had no future in soccer. Sissi retorted, “I will prove you wrong. I am going to play for the national team.”
Sissi will share how she overcame the challenges on her way to joining the national team and being featured in Chelsea Clinton’s book, “She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History.”
