Man fatally stabbed in Fairfield, suspect arrested
A man was stabbed early Friday in Fairfield and subsequently died of his injuries.
Around six hours after the attack, a suspect was arrested.
Events unfolded around 5:30 a.m. when officers responded to a report of a stabbing victim in the area of Boynton and Beck avenues. Firefighters were also deployed to the scene.
A wounded 41-year- old Fairfield man was located, transported to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
The victim’s name is being withheld by the Solano County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
Meanwhile, officers canvassed the area and located witnesses at a homeless encampment near the Linear Park Trail at Beck Avenue.
“Based on witness accounts and a statement made by the victim prior to dying, a suspect was identified,” officials said in a press statement.
Around 11:45 a.m., the suspect, Jason Moran Thomas, 34, of Fairfield, was taken into custody on the Linear Trail. The weapon was later located.
“This was an isolated incident stemming from a feud between those involved, and there are no other outstanding suspects,” officials advised.
Just after 2:15 p.m., Moran was booked into Solano County Jail on a single count of first degree murder. He is being held without bail.
Moran is slated to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Solano County Superior Court in Fairfield.
The matter remains under investigation.
