T he Sa lvation A r my K roc Center in Suisun City received a $ 25,000 check courtesy of Assemblyman Jim Frazier, which will go toward the center’s free and reduced daycare center and distance learning program for children of first responders.
“Our first responders and essential workers are the real heroes during this time of catastrophic fires and the COVID-19 pandemic,” Frazier said in a statement. “They literally save lives and I am honored to do my part to provide their children with necessary services.”
Since March, the Kroc Center has been providing emergency child care to 60 children of first responders and essential workers who have been hard at work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program was reviewed and approved by Solano County’s Health and Human Services Department.
“I hope others will be inspired to donate to provide childcare and distance learning opportunities for our region’ s first responders and essential workers,” Frazier stated. “These heroes deserve all the support we can give them and their families.”
Major Randy Hartt, the Kroc Center’s corps officer, emphasized that the program also provides opportunities for students who are distance learning.
“We offer homework assistance, physical activities, arts and crafts programs and a safe and socially distanced facility for the children of our heroes on the front lines,” he said in a statement. “We are so happy to be able to provide this program and thank Assemblymember Frazier for his generous support.”
