Think, pray, vote

-

For the past two and a half months I have been off-line and silent as the daily political insanities overwhelmed me. Now, to my fellow freedom-loving, God-fearing patriots — Wake up! If you don’t want a crushingly chaotic and divisive autocracy for the next four years, you need to do three things (if you haven’t yet voted):

• Observe/review the narratives/facts/claims of the past few years.

• Think about them, considering your values (like the Ten Commandments, patriotism (our war heroes likened by Trump to “losers and suckers”), and related values, (could conservatives not pursue their agenda successfully without Trump?). Consider the lives of more than 200,000 innocent lives sacrificed and counting millions more suffering, and consider the hundreds of billions of dollars lost and millions of lives severely disrupted etc.).

• Vote.

The president has shown himself to have little regard for the law (are we not a nation of law?) in so many ways. He has shown himself to be a strong supporter of white nationalistic racism (e.g. the violencepromoting Proud Boys, “Stand back, stand by,” Stand by for what? Trump’s losing the election? Then what?), misogyny (the degradation of women’s rights), a strong kinship with Putin (why him in particular?) and other autocratic rulers in China, Turkey, North Korea, and the Philippines. What about his interfering with the operations of the USPS and his intensely-framed sowing of distrust in the American elective process?

America, as it is, cannot be an autocracy with Trump as Emperor.

The future of our beloved democracy is at stake. If Trump is re- elected, his signature chaos, lack of empathy, and divisiveness of the past few years will continue unabated, seeming like child’s play in comparison. If the Supreme Court is stacked with a strong majority holding ultraconservative values, what will happen to the successful progress toward our Constitutionally-proclaimed pursuit of freedom and equity? Do you really want that?

You might want to consider his rude, bullying, and dishonest behavior in the presidential debate. Like many, I found it frequently hard to watch, to think that our president could behave so. It was stunningly embarrassing.

Think about it seriously. Please, pray and vote accordingly..
