A preliminary design for a public art installation at the entryway to the Rocky Hill Trail has been proposed, and the city is calling upon the community to give their thoughts.

A virtual meeting will be held Tuesday to present the piece and solicit feedback from attendees.

The meeting is part of the city’s continued efforts to spruce up the Rocky Hill Trail, located at the corner of Markham Avenue and Rocky Hill Road, which date back to 2008 when members of the Vacaville Reach Youth Coalition identified the trail as one that was usafe, due to it being a dirt road at the time that got very muddy following rainfalls but was the only shortcut for students in the area walking home from school.

The path was later designated by the Vacaville City Council as a bike trail in the General Plan, and the city paved it to make it easier to traverse through. The project was completed in 2016 with an extension finished in 2018.

One of the city’s additional plans to beautify the trail is to have a public art component go along with it. Back in 2019, the city began soliciting artwork and is now ready to present it.

The meeting will showcase the preliminary design and will gather feedback from attendees to be used for possible input during revisions.

The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday Attendees may also dial in at (669) 900 9128 or (669) 219 2599, or toll free at (888) 475 4499 or (877) 853 5257. FOr more information, visit Ci.vacaville. ca.us/government/parksand-recreation/facilitiesparks/parks-fields/rockyhill-trail#ad-image- 0.
