A preliminary hearing date is on track for a 25-year- old man charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon in connection to a stabbing more than 10 months ago in Fairfield.

Jacob Raymond Travis was scheduled to appear Dec. 14 in Department 5 for a readiness conference, and Judge Stephanie Grogan Jones had previously ordered the defendant to return at 10 a.m. Jan. 15 for the hearing in the Justice Center in Fairfield.

Travis, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, remains in Solano County Jail on $750,000 bail. He is represented by Deputy Public Defender Mardin Y. Malik.

According to police records, Travis was a suspect in the alleged stabbing during the late hours of Feb. 21, 2020, and was arrested shortly afterward.

At approximately 11 p.m., he reportedly broke into the apartment of his ex- girlfriend on Gregory Street. While a handful of people were in the apartment, Travis allegedly obtained a knife and started a fight with one of the occupants.

He is accused of stabbing one of the victims multiple times in an attempt to kill them, police said. Other occupants called 911, but Travis fled before officers arrived.

At approximately 1 a.m. Feb. 22, a Fairfield resident called 911 to report seeing Travis in the area of Pennsylvania and Tabor avenues. The caller provided details about what he was wearing and additional updates as officers responded. Travis was found in the 1200 block of Tabor and arrested as he attempted to run and hide from officers. He was later booked into Solano County Jail.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local trauma center, where he was treated for a stab wound to the back of his head, another to the back of his neck and two more to his back. The victim was stabilized by medical personnel and was expected to make a full recovery.
