A date has been set for the virtual dedication of the Rio Vista Veterans’ Home.

A remote ceremony will be held on Jan. 28.

In the summer of 2019, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a six-bedroom, three-bathroom house on 610 St. Francis Way, across from American Legion 178. The home is part of the Solano-Napa chapter of Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to bring more permanent homes for veterans to the area.

Major sponsors include Solano County, the Home Depot Foundation, Housing Assistance Council, American Legion 178, Anheuser-Busch, Wells Fargo Foundation, Valero Energy Foundation, NorthBay Healthcare, Bank of the West, Bank of America, Genentech, and more.

The home is intended to house up to six veterans for as long as they choose to live there. The house plan includes a covered porch and patio, a detached two- car garage with secure storage, kitchen, dining room, mudroom, and great room.

The permanent veterans’ residence is the second of its kind in Solano County, following the dedication of another Habitat for Humanity home in Dixon in 2019.

With the Rio Vista house nearing completion, officials are ready to formally dedicate the new residence. A program of events will be unveiled before the date of the event.

The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 28 at Solanonapahabitat.org/riovista-dedication/.

Attendees are asked to visit the link on the day of the event to access the ceremony.
