The Will C. Wood High boys and girls cross country team won their meets over the Armijo Royals, who did not field a complete team, at Rockville Park in Fairfield on Wednesday.

“Our athletes had a great time competing at the Rockville course,” said Wood head coach Ray Hausler. “I think traveling for a meet made it feel somewhat normal. We were able to get out on a course that was somewhat unfamiliar and compete well.”

In the boys’ 2.9-mile race, Armijo’s Marcus Cunanan took first place in a time of 19 minutes, 18 seconds. Wood took the next seven places: Evan Smith (19:23), Aaron Lee (19:40), Angelo Johnson (20:16), Dakota Friend (20:25), Zane Johnson (20:32), Gabriel Murdock (21:17), and Roanin Podkin (22:03).

In the girls’ 2.9-mile race, Wood took the top eight places: Tea Troche-Jones won in 20:50, followed by Kaydence Garrison (20:55), Mariana Orta (22:47), Diana Luu (24:03), Carina Tupy (24:08), Emma Howard (24:36), Anahi Montano (24:37) and Marisa Valdivia (24:40).
