The Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District has opened the application period for the 2021 Clean Air Funds program.
This annual grant program has $400,000 available for local projects that will reduce emissions from mobile sources of air pollution within the district, which encompasses Rio Vista in the south, Sacramento in the east and north to Dunnigan and west to the hills east of Lake Berryessa and west of Vacaville.
Grants are awarded on a competitive basis by the district’s board of directors, Stephanie Holliday, a spokeswoman for the district, said in a press release issued Tuesday.
Deadline to submit an application is 4 p.m. April 30. Applications are available online at w w w.ysaqmd.org/Apply2021CAF.
District staff will be hosting a webinar at 1 p.m. March 25 to discuss the program, application process and answer questions. For those interested, register at www.ysaqmd. org/2021CAFWebinar.
Clean Air Funds program seeks to encourage private businesses, nonprofit groups and public agencies to pursue cost-effective projects with impact and designed to reduce pollution emissions from mobile sources within the district through grants.
There are four qualifying project categories: Clean Vehicle Technology, Alternative Transportation, Transit Services, and Public Education. Past projects included bicycle infrastructure and rack installation, EV charging and infrastructure replacement, and public outreach programs, Holliday noted in the press statement.
District leaders encourage applications for projects that focus on youth education and embody the theme that “Children are the key to a future with clean air.”
