Fay Hulbert
April 26, 1942 - March 1, 2021 Dixon, CA
Fay Hulbert, beloved longtime Davis-Dixon resident and educator, passed away on March 1, 2021, after a long and courageous struggle with cancer.
Fay was born in Sacramento on April 26, 1942. She was raised in Dixon and graduated from Dixon public schools. She earned her B.A. Degree in English and her teaching credential from UC Davis.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Fay had an outstanding career as an English teacher at Woodland High School and then in Davis at “Old” Emerson Junior High, O.W. Holmes Junior High, and Davis Senior High. She also served as Vice Principal at Davis Senior High prior to retiring in 2001. Throughout her teaching years, she established strong and lasting relationships with her students and colleagues, many of which she maintained throughout the remainder of her life. In addition to serving in multiple leadership roles during her career, she was also a highly valued member of numerous school accreditation teams throughout Northern California. Outside of her professional life, Fay valued her involvement in many civic and philanthropic organizations, including American Field Service (AFS), Children’s Home Society (CHS), 4-H and International House Davis.
Fay is survived by her mother, Dorothy Wallace, matriarch of the pioneer Dawson family in Dixon; caring sister, Roberta Wallace; her devoted husband of 57 years, Jerry; loving children, Stephen Hulbert (Julie), Katherine Weldon (Ed), and Elizabeth Brazelton (Hutson). Fay’s eight grandchildren brought her great joy; Michael and Madison Hulbert, Ward, Noah, Benjamin and Kathryn Fay Weldon, and Ruby and Nora Brazelton. She also enjoyed a most special relationship with brother-in-law and sisterin-law, Robert and Georgeanne Hulbert, and sister-in-law, Beverlee Hulbert. Fay is also survived by numerous other dear family members and friends. She was predeceased by her father, George M. Wallace, who was so very proud of his daughters.
A private family memorial service for Fay will be held in the coming weeks. She would have loved a larger celebration of her life, which sadly cannot take place due to COVID-19. The family greatly appreciates the memories of Fay that have been shared since her passing.
Fay received wonderful care from Kaiser Davis and Vacaville over the years; her family asks that any donations be made to Kaiser Foundation Hospital Hospice Department, 1761 Broadway Street, Suite 101, Vallejo, CA, 94589, or alternatively to a charity of choice.
