Dixon May Fair offering food favorites

- The Reporter

While the Dixon May Fair is going virtual for its competitive exhibits this year, there are a number of inperson elements that longtime fairgoers will likely miss. One of these happens to be the various foods that are served each year, but for lovers of deep fried and candy-coated treats, the May Fair has you covered.

For three days in May, patrons can pick up some of their favorite snacks and meals at the Fairgrounds for A Taste of the May Fair.

“A big component of the annual fair is the food and we have heard from our guests that they miss the tastes offered at the fair, so we have put together a Grab and Go Taste of the May Fair where patrons can come and take out some of their favorite fair food to enjoy at home,” Fair CEO Patricia Conklin said in a statement.

Currently, 12 vendors are scheduled to serve various foods, although the menus are subject to change. Foods include rolled tacos, corn dogs, burritos, pies, cobblers, pretzels, cotton candy, shaved ice, rolled tacos, kettle corn, Candy apples, carne asada fries, sweet potato fries, curly fries, funnel cake, sundaes, deep fries Oreos and Snickers, and a whole lot more. The vendors include California Ice Cream Company, Dynamite Kettle Korn, Good Ol’ Boys Rolled Tacos, J.L. Q Concessions, Lynn’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Much-ABunch, PHD & Me, Red & White Concessions, Stroud Enterprises, West Coast Weenies and Willamette

Valley Pie Company.

A current prospective menu can be viewed at Facebook.com/dixon.mayfair.

The foods will be available between 4 and 8 p.m. May 6 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 7 to 9. Visitors can park, go through the main gate, place their orders and take their foods home, according to a news release. Due to restrictions on how many people can be in the Fairgrounds at one time, there may be wait times. Guests are also asked to wear masks at all times and not enter if they are exhibiting feverish symptoms or have recently been in contact with others who have.

The Fairgrounds are located at 655 South First St. For more information, call 678-5529.
