Dixon Chamber seeking nominees for Citizen/Business of the Year
Dixonites, do you know of any businesses that go above and beyond in serving the community? Know of residents who are actively involved in making Dixon a better place? You will have a chance to honor them through the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year recognition. The deadline is April 30.
The Citizen of the Year Award honors residents who have contributed to Dixon’s welfare and improvement while also contributing to community activities and civic enterprise. The Business of the Year Award does the same for local businesses.
Past citizen recipients have included Donny Everhart, Jim Ernest, Cathy Morris, Peter Timm, Jack Batchelor, Marime Burton, Kevin Johnson, Ross Hanna, Jill Orr, Courtney Kett, Chuck Ary and Ron DuPratt. Past business honorees have included Dixon Financial & Insurance Services, Altec Industries, Travis Credit Union, Dixon Florist and Gift Shop, Recology of Dixon, Cattlemen’s, Bryan-Braker Funeral Home and Curves.
All nominations for this year must be submitted in writing through either snail mail to Dixon Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 159, Dixon, CA 95620 or hand-delivered to 220 N. Jefferson St. Nominations can also be submitted electronically at info@dixonchamber.org. All forms must include the nominator’s name and phone number. Past recipients in both categories will be ineligible from being selected again.
For the Business of the Year category, nominees must be Chamber of Commerce members and businesses located in Dixon, be involved in monetary donations or community volunteerism, have outstanding customer service and be involved in community events, according to Chamber officials. Businesses may not nominate themselves, and nonprofit clubs and organizations do not qualify for this award. All nominations will be reviewed by a panel of past recipients.
For the Citizen of the Year category, nominees must reside in Dixon, participate in community activities and contribute to the city’s well-being, possess leadership skills, cooperate with other individuals and civic organizations, have “unselfish devotion and contribution without personal gain” and partake in activities within Dixon. Nominators are advised to list as many of the nominee’s activities as possible, including their involvement with local business, professional, civic and/or religious organizations, in addition to past or present

Typically, the awards are announced at an annual dinner. However, because of COVID restrictions, organizers have not announced a date for the dinner but indicated that it would be held sometime later in the year.
The deadline is noon April 30. For more information, call Chamber President Shauna Manina at 678-2650 or email info@ dixonchamber.org.
