Solano County Library hosts Halloween happenings

Solano County Library presents a variety of free Halloween and fall themed programs at library locations with crafts, stories and interactiv­e activities. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes during the last week in October to storytimes and special programs. The Library will also offer activities for teens and adults.

Children Events: Crafty Storytime — Dixon Library

• Oct. 12, 10-11 a.m. (Fall themed) Paper Hedgehog

• Oct. 19, 10-11 a.m. Clothespin Monsters

• Oct. 26, 10-11 a.m. Monster Slime

• Nov. 2. 10-11 a.m. Decorate a Dancing Skeleton (Día) Afternoon Adventures — Dixon Library

• Oct. 20, 2-3 p.m. Mini Pumpkin Painting

• Oct. 27, 2-3 p.m. Foam Skull Decorating (Día)

• Nov. 3, 2-3 p.m. Crepe Paper Flowers (Día) Twilight Story Night — Dixon Library

• Oct. 28, 6:30-7 p.m. Halloween Themed Storytime — Fairfield Civic Center Library (Outdoor Patio Area)

• Oct. 28, 10:30—11 a.m. Costumes are welcome. Bring something to sit on.

Pumpkin Decorating — Fairfield Cordelia Library

Halloween Outdoor Storytime — Mankas Park, Fairfield

• Oct. 27 10-10:30 a.m. Costumes are welcome. Read, sing and create a simple craft. Bring something to sit on.

Día del los Muertos Sugar Skull Making and Painting — Rio Vista Library

• Oct. 26, 3-4 p.m. “Ghost” Scavenger Hunt — Suisun City Library

• Oct. 1 and Oct. 30 Find the “ghosts” hidden in the library and receive stickers.

Halloween Costume Parade — Suisun City Library

• Oct. 28, 10:30-11 a.m. Wear a costume for the Halloween storytime and parade.

Papier Mache Pumpkins: 2-Part Event — Vacaville Cultural Center Library

• Oct. 19, 3-4 p.m. Use paste and paper to shape a design.

• Oct. 26, 3-4 p.m. Decorate the pumpkin. Halloween Themed Storytimes — Vacaville Cultural Center Library

• Oct. 27 10-10:30 a.m.

• Oct. 28 10-10:30 a.m. Wear a costume for the Halloween storytime and parade.

Outdoor Halloween Party — Vacaville Town Square Library

• Oct. 28 4-5 p.m. Halloween fun including games, music, snacks and more. Children will get a chance to trick or treat in the library.

Pumpkin Decorating — Vallejo John F. Kennedy Library

Teen and Adult Events: Día del los Muertos Sugar Skull Making and Painting — Rio Vista Library

All Ages: Community Ofrenda for Día de Muertos — Dixon Library

• Oct. 25 to Nov. 3

In the tradition of Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) honor relatives and friends that the community has lost. Participat­e in this community ofrenda by placing photos or other offerings in the ofrenda on the steps of the original Carnegie library, facing B Street.

Fa-BOO-lous Halloween Selfies — Vacaville Town Square Library

• Oct. 1 to Oct. 30

Drop by the Vacaville Town Square Library and capture some Halloween season memories with a selfie in front of the “BOO-tiful” backdrop. Individual­s can have their own Halloween movie night with selections from streaming video services, Kanopy and Hoopla. Access is free with a library card at solanolibr­ary.com/247digital-library.
