Rodriguez grabs MEL girls golf tournament title
Vanden is second, Vacaville is third
The Rodriguez High School girls golf team grabbed the Monticello Empire League tournament crown on Tuesday with a team score of 401 at Rancho Solano Golf Club.
The Mustangs had the top three individuals at the tournament — Darla May Dela Torre with a 72, Nikki Chindavong carded a 73 and Erica Villegas shot a
75. Noelle Concepcion had a 90 and Destiny Rose had a 91.
Vanden shot 530 as a team and was led by Fatum Soumahoro with a
94. Maggie Taylor shot a 101, Diana Borchert a 103, Zoe Zanassi a 112 and Kara Chung a 120.
Vacaville shot 555 as a team. The Bulldogs were led by Brooke Williams’ 102, Rossy Gonsalez’s 104, Alanna Castillo’s 106, Kelsey Hobbs’ 109 and Raquel McGrath’s 134.
Dela Torre, Chindavong, Villegas and Concepcion were all-league for Rodriguez. Soumahoro and Taylor were all-league for Vanden and Williams and Hobbs were all-MEL for Vacaville.
Youth football
JEPSON 24, VACA PENA 0 >> The Jepson flag football team started the season 3-0 after beating Vaca Peña 24-0 on Tuesday.
Wyatt Sandovaal led the day with two rushing touchdowns and Lance Westbrook had one rushing touchdown. Brock Galer
had a 55-yard touchdown pass to Rome Griego to finish off the third quarter.
Micah Delarosby had an interception. Michael Roschi, Cameron Holbein, Rafael Francisco, Aiden Pope and Quincy Cole made some great plays on defense.
Jepson had outstanding
line play on both sides of the ball from Brady Wight, Robert Costa, Daniel Teitgen, Thomas Luna, Angelo Vargos, Dino Menicou and Preston Cross.
Jepson will play at Golden West on Oct. 26 as well as Vaca Peña at Vacaville High School at 6 p.m. on Oct. 28.
