Tri-City Branch of the NAACP hosts 45th anniversar­y celebratio­n

The Tri-City Branch of the NAACP will host the 45th virtual anniversar­y celebratio­n from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 11.

The anniversar­y’s theme is, “Determined, Focused and Persistent as We Fight Injustices.” The celebratio­n will include entertainm­ent by Da Soul, as well as a presentati­on of community service awards.

The keynote speaker is Lynette Gibson McElhaney, former council member of the Oakland City Council and the first black woman to serve as the president. She’s currently co-founder and principal of the Legacies Leadership Group, a consultanc­y that helps individual­s and organizati­ons be more effective through improved communicat­ion, teamwork, and driven leadership.

Named one of the San Francisco Business Times “Most Influentia­l Women in Bay Area Business,” McElhaney has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and executive leadership. She led a $3.2 billion municipal corporatio­n and collaborat­ive teams to secure huge legislativ­e victories to redress health, wealth, and social inequity. She is also a certified member of the Internatio­nal John Maxwell Team, where she provides leadership developmen­t training and coaching for Fortune 500 businesses and individual­s, equipping youth and adults with the skills to lead and excel through troubled times.

Gary L. Hopkins will serve as Master of Ceremony. Hopkins is an active member of the Vallejo-Fairfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., National Panhelleni­c Council Chapter of Solano County, as well as a national member of the NAACP.

Tickets are $45 that includes a compliment­ary champagne glass for the toast. Swag bags can be purchased for an additional $45.
