Tri-City Branch of the NAACP hosts 45th anniversary celebration
The Tri-City Branch of the NAACP will host the 45th virtual anniversary celebration from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 11.
The anniversary’s theme is, “Determined, Focused and Persistent as We Fight Injustices.” The celebration will include entertainment by Da Soul, as well as a presentation of community service awards.
The keynote speaker is Lynette Gibson McElhaney, former council member of the Oakland City Council and the first black woman to serve as the president. She’s currently co-founder and principal of the Legacies Leadership Group, a consultancy that helps individuals and organizations be more effective through improved communication, teamwork, and driven leadership.
Named one of the San Francisco Business Times “Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business,” McElhaney has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and executive leadership. She led a $3.2 billion municipal corporation and collaborative teams to secure huge legislative victories to redress health, wealth, and social inequity. She is also a certified member of the International John Maxwell Team, where she provides leadership development training and coaching for Fortune 500 businesses and individuals, equipping youth and adults with the skills to lead and excel through troubled times.
Gary L. Hopkins will serve as Master of Ceremony. Hopkins is an active member of the Vallejo-Fairfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., National Panhellenic Council Chapter of Solano County, as well as a national member of the NAACP.
