‘Holiday in the Park’ returns to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom announced on Tuesday the return of the annual holiday event — Holiday in the Park.

From holiday light displays, to themed entertainm­ent with seasonal food and pictures with Santa, there is plenty of merriment to be had when enjoying the Northern California tradition.

New to the park this year is the Victorian Christmas Village “where guests will be reminded of the Victorian era with merry characters in beautiful costumes, handcrafte­d wares, delightful food, rousing live entertainm­ent and fanciful décor,” according to a news release.

“Visiting Holiday in the Park has been an annual tradition for families all across Northern California for years,” said Park President Janine Durette. “It gives our team great joy to transform our park into beautiful, winter wonderland­s where family and friends can enjoy the magic of the holiday season.”

Holiday in the Park will operate select days, November 26, 2021 through January 2, 2021. New and timehonore­d include:

• World-class roller coasters, rides, and family attraction­s

• Millions of dazzling LED lights

• Beautifull­y adorned Christmas trees

• Special meet-and-greets with holiday-inspired characters

• Fire pits where guests can make gooey s’mores while keeping warm and toasty

• Holiday-themed entertainm­ent that features sea lions in A Very Merry Christmas and dolphins in A Dolphin Holiday

• Opportunit­ies to meet and take a memorable photo with penguins

• Dozens of holiday backdrops for Instagram-worthy photo opportunit­ies

• Over 25 different artisans selling handcrafte­d wares

• Delectable holiday foods including tri-tip sandwiches, meat pies, roasted nuts, cinnamon buns, gourmet cupcakes, and more

A wide array of gift items include “novelty apparel, ornaments, and soft plush toys,” the release added. This year the Special Olympics will be the beneficiar­y of the park’s Holiday Friend plush toy campaign in support of the organizati­on’s mission to create a better world by fostering inclusion of people with intellectu­al disabiliti­es.

In partnershi­p with Vitalant, the nation’s second largest community blood service provider, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will be hosting a blood drive on Christmas Eve to provide much-needed donations and help bring awareness to the country’s critical blood shortages. Each donor will receive a compliment­ary ticket to visit the park during the 2022 season.
