Vacaville Christian baseball blows out Golden Sierra, 14-0

The Vacaville Christian High baseball team defeated Golden Sierra, 14-0, Tuesday in a Sierra Delta League matchup.

Offensivel­y, the Falcons (10-7, 7-3) struck quickly, scoring 12 of their 14 runs in the first three innings, including home runs from Mekhi Davison, Bryce Pazdel and Teagan Gonzales.

The Falcons now secure their spot in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. The same teams are set to meet again on Thursday. VANDEN 7, FAIRFIELD 4 >> The Vanden High baseball team secured another series victory on the road Tuesday, defeating Fairfield, 7-4, in Monticello Empire League play.

Offensive consistenc­y was the motto for the Vikings (21-2, 11-1), who scored their first five runs sporadical­ly throughout the first four innings, while the Falcons' (5-19, 0-12) first run came in the bottom of the third inning.

The Vikings were led offensivel­y by senior Darryl Dilworth Jr., who went 3-for-4, knocking in two runs. Tyler James alongside juniors Cody Buckley and Aidan Robles each got an RBI.

The Vikings are set to host Rodriguez at home on Thursday.

RODRIGUEZ 11, VACAVILLE 1 >> The Vacaville High baseball team fell to Rodriguez, 11-1 on Tuesday in MEL play.

The Mustangs (23-0, 12-0) started the game off strong, scoring six in the bottom of the first. The Bulldogs (11-12, 5-7) scored their lone run in the top of the third, but the Mustangs secured their win with scoring three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The Bulldogs' lone RBI came from senior Cameron Malone. JJ Menesini and Andrew Lammon both had two hits.

ARMIJO 13, WILL C. WOOD 6 >> In this MEL matchup on Tuesday, the Will C. Wood High baseball team couldn't fend off Armijo, 13-6.

The Wildcats started off strong when they scored four runs in the bottom of the first but the Royals (11-12, 5-7) regained the lead later in the fourth when they scored six. The Wildcats (10-12, 3-9) tied the game once again in the bottom of the fourth, 6-6. The Royals secured the win when they scored seven runs in the last three innings to win, 13-6.

The Wildcats were led offensivel­y by junior Jarren Ford (3-for-4) and Kai Koizumi (2-for-4) each knocked in two runs a piece.

ALPHA CHARTER 14, BUCKINGHAM 0 >> In a Sacramento Metropolit­an Athletic League game, the Buckingham Charter High baseball team fell to host Alpha Charter, 14-0.

The Angels (20-3, 7-0) struck early and often, scoring 11 of their runs in the second and third innings. Offensivel­y, the Knights (4-10, 3-4) were kept at bay, only getting five hits throughout the game.

Softball

VACAVILLE CHRISTIAN 14, GOLDEN SIERRA 4 >> In this Sierra Delta League matchup, the Vacaville Christian High softball team overwhelme­d the Golden Sierra Grizzlies in front of their home crowd on Tuesday, winning 14-4 in five innings.

Going into the bottom of the second, the game was tied, 1-1. The Falcons (7-3, 6-3) scored six in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead. After the Grizzlies (6-7,4-3) managed to score another run in the top of the fourth, in which the Falcons responded with seven runs of their own.

The Falcons were led offensivel­y by junior Emerson Meggers, who went 3-for-4 with a double and triple, knocking in two runs. Freshman Lexi Martinez went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as well. Meggers pitched in the circle, allowing eight hits and four runs but striking out seven to secure the win.

Boys golf RODRIGUEZ 243, VANDEN 246 >>

At Cypress Lakes Golf Course on Tuesday, the Rodriguez High boys golf team edged Vanden, 243246, in MEL play.

The Vikings (10-5) were led by Jerah Venkaiya who scored a 40. Rohan Kamath finished with a 46. Heath Bradford completed the day with 48. Nolin McClaskey carded a 55. Eljay Jimenez scored a 57.

VACAVILLE 211, WILL C. WOOD 282 >> The Vacaville High boys golf team beat Wood 211-282 on Tuesday at Paradise Valley Golf Course in MEL play.

The Bulldogs were led by Ben Wilhite, who on his birthday, scored a 36. Jack Mitchell finished with a

40. Tyler Riley carded a

42. Isaac Johns scored a

43. Quinn Starchan finished the day with a 50.

The Wildcats were led by Solomon Alexander, who scored a 51. Ryan Sison finished with a 54. Nick Talavera scored a 56. Dustin Austin carded a 58. Tyson Freeman finished the day with a 63.

Girls badminton ARMIJO 10, VACAVILLE 5 >>

The Vacaville High badminton team couldn't fend off Armijo, 10-5 on Tuesday in MEL play.

In singles matches, the Bulldogs' wins came from Kait Roser and Hadel Marini, who each won their matches by the third set.

In doubles, the wins for the Bulldogs (7-9, 6-7) came from the tandems of Hannah Roderick/Tuesday Vanderpool, Alisa Grandi/Jilly Ferreira and Marini/Maya Wright.

College baseball MENDOCINO 11, SOLANO 3 >>

The Solano College baseball team fell to visiting Mendocino 11-3 on Tuesday in Bay Valley Conference play.

Jason Pridy had a homer and three RBIs and Nico Castrillo was 2-for-4 for the Falcons (11-24, 8-11). Zion Judkins had a double.
