A suspect in the April 21 slaying of a man in Fairfield has been arrested.

Richard Raymond Klein, 51, was arrested Tuesday in the 1200 block of Vine Avenue in Fairfield and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of murder and being a flon in possession of a firearm, police advised Thursday.

Klein is accused in the fatal shooting of Anthony Fuimaono, 56, of Fairfield..

Around 11:30 p.m. April 21, a group had gathered outside a home in the 300 block of Manzanita Avenue.

A subsequent investigation revealed that an argument occurred and guns were drawn, police said. The victim was shot during the chaos.

An unidentified woman was driving the victim to the hospital when officers arrived on scene to investigate reports of the shooting, officials said. They saw her vehicle leaving and pulled her over. The injured Fuimaono was found and later transported to a local hospital.

Around 2 a.m. April 22, he succumbed to his injuries.

On Thursday, Klein — shackled at the waist and clad in a striped jail jumpsuit, a sullen look on his face — appeared in Department 11 of Solano County Superior Court in Fairfield for an arraignment on the charges. He was represented by Chief Deputy Public Defender Tamani Taylor, who asked Judge William J. Pendergast to reset the arraignment for 8:30 a.m. May 13 in the Justice Center in Fairfield.

The Solano County District Attorney's Office filed its complaint Thursday. Chief Deputy District Attorney Paul Sequeira appeared on behalf of the DA.

Klein remains in Solano County Jail without bail.
