The Solano County Coroner on Wednesday said that Ernest Detore, 42, was the Sacramento man who died early Tuesday morning after a collision on I-80 in Dixon.

He was killed after the large pickup truck he was driving struck the side of a semitractor-trailer in a multiple-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 80 at Pedrick Road in Dixon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Detore, driver of a Ford F-650, considered a commercial super truck, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 6:50 a.m. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A passenger in the F-650, Adrian Flores, 28, of Sacramento, suffered major injuries and was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center for treatment, Jason Tyhurst, public information officer for CHP-Solano, said in a press release.

Four others in another large pickup truck, a Ford F-450, suffered minor injuries and required transport for medical treatment, he added.

Tyhurst said the preliminary investigation revealed the F-650 was traveling east of Pedrick in the No. 3 lane and approaching slowermoving traffic.

Detore collided with the rear of a Ford F-450, which caused the F-450 to lose control and smash into the metal guardrail center median. The vehicle's four occupants, two from Sacramento and two from Elk Grove, ranged in age from 26 to 60.

The F-650 continued westbound and sideswiped a 2020 Volvo semitractortrailer, resulting in Detore's death. The driver of the bigrig, Victor Lezhnenko, 57, of Sacramento, was not injured. Tyhurst said it was unknown if distracted driving or drugs and/or alcohol intoxication was a factor in this crash.

The collision forced the closure of all westbound I-80 lanes for a time and traffic was rerouted, according to a social media post by the CHP.

Any person with information relevant to the investigation is asked to call the CHP at 800-TELL-CHP (800835-5247), or the CHP-Solano office at 639-5600. Callers should indicate they have information for CHP-Solano and Officer John Doull.
