Humor to benefit teens with Fairfield PAL

- The Reporter

Looking for laughs and hope to support local kids?

The Fairfield Police Officers Association's “Night of Stand-Up Comedy” to benefit the Fairfield PAL Teen Center could be for you.

The event, set for 8 p.m. Aug. 2t at the Downtown Theatre, 1035 Texas St., benefits teens in Fairfield, Suisun and on Travis Air Force Base.

The event will be hosted by David Lew, comedian and producer, and will feature headliners Joey Medina of the Original Latin Kings of Comedy and Justin Rupple, who has appeared in “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World,” “SpiderMan:Homecoming” and “The Fate of the Furious.”

Medina, a Puerto Rican born and raised in the Bronx, New York, is one of the freshest and funniest comedians around today, organizers said. He spent most of his teen years perfecting boxing skills that would one day earn him a State Championship as a professional and a shot at the world title before becoming a heavy-hitter in the comedy arena.

He is a veteran of more than 50 television appearances including his own SHOWTIME Comedy Special, “Joey Medina: Taking Off The Gloves.” He hosted a morning radio show in Los Angeles on KXOL 96.3 FM. and toured with Russell Peters in New Zealand and Australia.

Rupple is a Los Angelesbased stand-up comedian, acto, and voice actor. He is known for his impressions on the USA show “First Impressions” with Dana Carvey, and in the upcoming film “Operation Chromite,” with Liam Neeson.

Tickets are $54 per person and can be purchased at www.downtowntheatre. com.

Proceeds will be used to make necessary upgrades to the new PAL location. The Fairfield PAL Teen Center opened at 250 Travis Blvd in 2009 and has served more than 4,000 local teens and their families. Fairfield PAL uses the fun of traditional recreation to engage teens and help build great skills.
