City to host virtual meeting on proposed Brown St. park

The city of Vacaville is considering a new park next to the Solano County Health & Human Services Department on Brown Street and wants input from residents.

A virtual community meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday over Zoom.

The city's proposal is for an approximately 3.9-acre multi-use project on the east side of Brown Street. Proposed features include a multipurpose sports court, playground, tot lot, splash pad, open space, picnic and barbecue area, shade structures, plaza area with a stage and seating, water fountains, lighting and an indoor community center for educational and recreational programs.

The proposal also calls for the planting of 70 to 90 new trees, preservation of some on-site oaks and space for public art based on community input.

The site is also being planned to provide space for new city offices as well as a new center for the Vacaville Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club, complete with a sports court.

City staff will be presenting two versions of the proposed project, answering questions and soliciting feedback from attendees.
