Two Bay Area men — one of them from Fairfield — will return to Solano County Superior Court in the coming weeks for more proceedings in connection to an August 2022 shooting in Vacaville that killed one man and wounded another.
Damien Maurice Jones Jr., 22, of Fairfield, and Jeremy Dante Love Fisher, 26, of Pacifica, appeared Monday in Department 11, where Judge William J. Pendergast ordered them to return at 1:30 p.m. March 14 to the Justice Center in Fairfield.
Jones, who is represented by Fairfield criminal defense attorney Curtis Boyd, faces a readiness conference and the setting of a preliminary hearing. Fisher, who is represented by the Alternate Public Defender, faces further arraignment. Solano County District Attorney Krishna Abrams represented the people during their brief court appearance.
As previously reported, court records show that around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 12 Vacaville police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Markham Avenue. Afterward, two victims were taken to an area hospital. Cristian Medina, 25, of Vacaville, died of his injuries. The other victim, police said, made a full recovery.
Following a six-month investigation, detectives on Feb. 22 served multiple residential search warrants in Vacaville, Fairfield, American Canyon and Pacifica.
Jones, who was arrested at a Kent Way residence in Vacaville, is charged with first-degree murder, firstdegree attempted murder, attempted robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing ammunition, and “large-capacity magazine activity,” all felonies, according to the criminal complaint.
Fisher, who was arrested at a Brown Street residence in Vacaville, also is charged with first-degree murder, and, on Feb. 20, was arrested in connection with unrelated domestic violence and vandalism charges.
Both men were booked into Solano County Jail and are being held without bail.
Detectives believe the shootings occurred during the commission of an armed robbery.
